Early Intervention
Interventions for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are crucial in supporting their development and overall well-being. Early intervention can significantly improve a child’s social communication skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and enhance their ability to learn and interact with others. By starting interventions at a young age, parents and caregivers can provide the necessary support tailored to their child’s unique needs.
STG Health's NeuroNurture™ Intervention
NeuroNurture™ is a comprehensive program designed to support children with (or at risk of having) Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in developing essential skills across various domains. Our intervention focuses on evidence-based practices tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring a personalized approach that fosters growth and development. These interventions are based on Naturalistic Developmental Behavioural Interventions (NDBI).
NEURONURTURE™ interventions include a set of specific interventions around pivotal behaviours and skills. Parents receive training and resources for each of these behaviours and skills so they can practice with their child at home every day.
Autism Intervention A is aimed at enhancing critical social and communication skills. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and focuses on fostering essential skills that promote interaction, understanding, and independence. Skills target include Pointing, Eye Contact & Gestures, Imitation, Responding to Name and Joint Attention.
Autism Intervention B is aimed at enhancing more advanced critical social and communication skills. Building on the skills taught during Intervention A, children continue to work on the following skills: Social Smiling, Understanding of Language, Social Communication, Pretend Play, and Parallel Play.
Intervention C depend on the readiness and continued learning growth of each child. In some situations, we continue with Interventions A, B, or A & B, and sometimes we add more complex activities. All is based on the readiness of the child.
Intervention D & E are more advanced social and communication skills. All is based on the readiness of the child.
No, with the recent critisism towards ABA, STG Health does not provide classical ABA training. However, we do incorporate aspects of ABA in a natural context through Pivotal Response Training.
STG Health uses a naturalistic behaviour model called Pivotal Response Training (PRT). PRT is a play-based learning program that focuses on “pivotal” areas of development to help with your child’s development. PRT targets motivation, responsivity to multiple cues, self-management, and social initiations.
