Information for Physicians

Northern Autism Service – Saskatchewan

Referrals

Parents cannot self-refer at this time. All referrals go through the La Ronge Medical Clinic and affiliated locations. If you have a concern about your child being at risk for autism, please ask your child’s physician to make a referral.

STG La Ronge accepts referrals for children who are considered at risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder:

Children 11 Months to 60 Months (4 Age Groups)

Age-specific Screening and Interventions

For each age group (11-15 Months; 16 - 22 Months; 23 - 30 Months; 31 - 60 Months), STG Therapists use age-specific screening instruments and provide interventions that are appropriate to the child's developmental age.

Children aged 5 - 12 Years

Screening services will consist of two steps, with a screener being completed by the parents and then a follow-up interview to determine if the child is at risk of ASD. Depending on the symptomology, specialised intervention can follow, depending on the child's needs. One such program is CBT for Anxiety for children with Autism.

Teens

Services start in January 2025.

Any teens referred will be added to the Teens waitlist. Please make sure to explain this to the parents/caregivers at the time of your consultation.
